It should have been our last training ride today, but Liz had other ideas.
Riding back from school with Euan, Liz came off worst in a contest with a bee. A rather dramatic fall left her concussed. Euan (the first hero of the story) managed to get his mum back to the house and look after her. Neve (second hero) looked after her while husband (no chance of being a hero) made his way back to the house. Liz then decided to ask "Where am I", "What happened", "Where are you" in a continuous loop.
999 was called. Kids (a tad upset but still playing their hero roles perfectly made their way to Alan and Janets ... thank you!).
The paramedic arrived. You couldn't make it up .... they asked her to turn her head to the left. The bang hadn't sorted that out so she still didn't know. I advised them that she liked morphine but that wasn't funny. Thankfully oxygen restored her after a while. She got 4 out of 7 of the questions right that they asked which I knew to be a good score.
Ambulance arrived ...
We went to the hospital ... A&E (£2 for the pay-and-display!). Sent to Majors (no minors for us)...Liz was sent for a head scan. Even the doctor wasn't surprised when they came back and advised she had "unremarkable intercranial content". All ok - sent back home.
Other than looking a bit Jimmy Hill, Liz remains on track to start the ride on Sunday!
